On September 6, the Milton Keynes Table Tennis Centre hosted its second annual women’s charity tournament. Fourteen women, most of them regulars at the centre’s monthly ladies-only sessions, took part. Organised by Julie Snowdon, a Table Tennis England staff member and centre secretary, the event focused on fun and fair play rather than on rankings. The format included two group rounds, a main draw and a consolation final, making sure every player had a meaningful match. By the end of the day, the event had raised £650 for Breast Cancer Now and collected more than 100 old bras for the Against Breast Cancer recycling programme. This small but meaningful competition shows how grassroots sport can build community, support a charitable cause and create a safe space for women to play. The next ladies-only session is scheduled for November 1, from 10am to 12pm at the centre.
